Softball Recap: Sudan Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Sudan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with a 19-15 win over the Petersburg Buffaloes. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Haylee Toscano was a standout: she scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Daniella Ramirez was another key player, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI.

Sudan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Sudan's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Petersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Sudan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-7 win against Ralls on the 20th. Petersburg has also already played their next game (against Kress), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
