Soccer Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Winchester

Winchester lost to Arlington back in September, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Red & Black came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spy Ponders, sneaking past 1-0. The win was all the more spectacular given Winchester's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Arlington are ranked fourth).

Winchester has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matchups. As for Arlington, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight matches and leaves them with a 14-2-1 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Winchester is set to take on their familiar foe Belmont at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Arlington will face off against rival Lexington at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
