Preview: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Emerald Vikings
Woodruff has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Emerald Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Woodruff is ranked 182nd, while Emerald is ranked 193rd).
A well-balanced attack led Woodruff over Union County in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Woodruff blew Union County out of the water with a 52-19 final score. The win was just what Woodruff needed coming off of a 52-8 loss in their prior matchup.
Woodruff found their leader in underclassman Jaylen Means, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 steals. Sadie Burnette was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 steals and six assists.
Meanwhile, Emerald ended up a good deal behind Clinton on Friday and lost 41-27.
Emerald's defeat came about despite a quality game from Arrianna Parks, who scored eight points.
Woodruff is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. As for Emerald, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Woodruff beat Emerald 49-38 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Does Woodruff have another victory up their sleeve, or will Emerald turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
