Football Recap: Mansfield Tigers vs. Lake Ridge Eagles
Mansfield had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it six. They came up short against the Lake Ridge Eagles, falling 44-21. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Mykah Lankford threw for 102 yards and one TD. Jonah Hand was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards. On the ground, Jayden Vasquez rushed for 60 yards and a pair of scores.
As for Lake Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
DeShawn Edwards produced another solid performance rushing for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 116 yards and one TD. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 142 rushing yards.
Mansfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 28-14 win against Crowley on the 9th. As for Lake Ridge, they have also already played their next matchup, a 62-17 defeat against North Crowley on the 9th.
