Baseball Recap: John Paul II Catholic Gets the Win

John Paul II Catholic took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Eastern Christian HomeSchool, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Trailblazers on Tuesday. For the Saints, this counts as revenge for the 10-2 victory the Trailblazers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2021.

James Donofrio was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Luke Perry was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Joseph Caporosssi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

John Paul II Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Eastern Christian HomeSchool, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Paul II Catholic will challenge Grace Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastern Christian HomeSchool, they will take on Greenville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
