Basketball Recap: Aurora Central Takes a Loss

Aurora Central lost against Skyview back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Aurora Central Trojans were outmatched by the Skyview Wolverines and fell 63-22.

Despite the loss, Aurora Central still got an impressive performance from Jamaea Johnson-Gonzales, who posted 13 points and eight boards. Johnson-Gonzales is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Andena Torres, who earned three points and five steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Skyview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevaeh Lucero, who went 5-for-8 en route to 10 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Yzabella Tafoya was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and three steals.

Aurora Central's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Skyview, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home.

Coming up, Aurora Central will challenge Niwot on Wednesday. Aurora Central is facing Niwot at the right time seeing as Niwot is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Skyview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
