Softball Recap: Overton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Overton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They never let the Hillsboro Burros get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. Considering the Bobcats have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kali Gray made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one triple. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Serenity Norman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Delilah Christian was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Overton's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Hillsboro, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Coincidentally, Overton and Hillsboro will both be playing Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet the next time they take the field. The Burros will host the Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bobcats will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
