Baseball Recap: Spokane Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Spokane duked it out with Greenwood on Friday. The Owls took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Jays. The Owls' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Spokane saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Kildea, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Tristan Gold also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Spokane's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Greenwood, their record now sits at 3-8.

Coming up, Spokane will head out to take on Sarcoxie at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.23 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasant Hope at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
