Baseball Recap: Alameda Sets Scoring Season-High Against Denver West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alameda). They were the clear victors by a 26-1 margin over the Denver West Cowboys on Tuesday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.

Vinny Arguello and Alan Chairez made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Arguello pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Chairez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Arguello went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Chairez scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hudson Judy was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braeden Moore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Alameda hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver West struck out eight times.

Alameda has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. Denver West is on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Alameda will host Aurora Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Denver West, they will venture away from home to take on Arvada at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
