Thornton Academy will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Noble on Wednesday. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Knights.

Back at the plate, Cam Cyr and Colton Cross did most of the damage at the plate: Cyr went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Cross went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Cross a new career-high. Carter Moody also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Marshwood entered their tilt with Westbrook on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They never let the Blue Blazes get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Like Thornton Academy, Marshwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Ronan Garrett. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Garrett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Silas Reimels was incredible, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Michael Sbrizza, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Marshwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Marshwood's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Thornton Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 9-1-1 record this season.

Marshwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Thornton Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Marshwood, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Thornton Academy's hitters?

Thornton Academy beat Marshwood 4-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
