Baseball Recap: Bayside Comes Up Short

Bayside extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 3-6. They lost 14-4 to the Francis Lewis Patriots. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for Francis Lewis, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

For Francis Lewis' part, Zye Robinson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luca Rosa, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Erik Lazar, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Coming up, Bayside will square off against Flushing at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the Commodores will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Francis Lewis, they will challenge Cardozo at 4:30 p.m. on the 12th.
