Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Eagles vs. Benjamin Buccaneers

The Centennial Eagles will square off against the Benjamin Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Centennial's hittershaven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Centennial's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Vero Beach hitters got past them. Centennial lost 10-1 to Vero Beach on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since March 19, 2024.

Centennial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giovanni Lopez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Benjamin won against Jensen Beach last Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Benjamin came out on top against Saint Andrew's by a score of 5-1. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Scots: they've now won four in a row.

Derek Rubin was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Drew Buchanan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Benjamin, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
