Baseball Game Preview: Leyden Eagles vs. Proviso East Pirates

For the second straight game, Leyden will face off against Proviso East. The Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Leyden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Leyden's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Proviso East. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.

Elias Carrillo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Leyden: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddox Jasinski, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Carlos Alvarez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
