Baseball Game Preview: Glens Falls Black Bears vs. Hudson Falls Tigers

The Glens Falls Black Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Hudson Falls Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Glens Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Glens Falls will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Schuylerville, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Black Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Horses on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Black Bears.

Jacob Hubert was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Glens Falls' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-0-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Chace Davidson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Hudson Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Amsterdam. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 27, 2024.

Daniel Carpenter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Santino Miranda also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Glens Falls' win bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Hudson Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Glens Falls came out on top in a nail-biter against Hudson Falls in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Black Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
