Football Game Preview: Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) vs. John F. Kennedy Rockets

Uvalde is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and John F. Kennedy a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) will welcome the John F. Kennedy Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Uvalde will be strutting in after a win while John F. Kennedy will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Uvalde turned things around against Pleasanton on Friday. They took down the Eagles 45-28.

Uvalde had a senior duo take command as Jett Flores rushed for 66 yards and a pair of TDs and Diego Granados picked up 154 receiving yards. Granados is becoming a predictor of the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls)'s success: when he posts at least 80 receiving yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

Uvalde was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 325 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, John F. Kennedy had to suffer through a 49-6 loss at the hands of Somerset. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1043rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 321st).

John F. Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Uvalde, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Uvalde against John F. Kennedy when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-19 win. Do the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
