Basketball Game Preview: Sanford Mustangs vs. Sargent Farmers

Sanford has won six straight games at home, while Sargent has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Sanford Mustangs will welcome the Sargent Farmers at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sanford is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Trinidad: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sanford blew Trinidad out of the water with a 58-4 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-2.

Meanwhile, Sargent made easy work of Del Norte on Friday and carried off a 55-30 win. The Farmers pushed the score to 50-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Sargent has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points per game. As for Sanford, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

Sanford strolled past Sargent when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 40-24. Will Sanford repeat their success, or does Sargent have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
