Softball Recap: Taft Extends Winning Streak to Four

Taft came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Delano Tigers as they made off with a 24-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 on Tuesday.

Juliana Edgar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Edgar was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Heaven Laux, who went 4-for-5 with five runs and two RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Cierrah Franks was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Taft was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Taft pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Delano, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-20-1 record this season.
