Volleyball Game Preview: Lockport Porters vs. Lincoln-Way Central Knights

Lockport is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Lincoln-Way Central is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Porters will host the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Thursday, Lockport sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Stagg. The Porters haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Lockport had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 27-29, 25-23, 25-18.

Lockport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antonio Fiordirosa, who had 16 assists and four digs. Those 16 assists gave Fiordirosa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Drew Miller, who had nine digs and two aces.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way Central posted their closest victory since March 24th on Friday. They skirted past Niles North 2-1.

Lincoln-Way Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Lockport, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.

Lockport beat Lincoln-Way Central 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Porters repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
