Softball Recap: Williamsville North Comes Up Short

Williamsville North made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lancaster, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans fell just short of the Legends by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Legends: they've now lost three in a row.

Claire VanCise was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. VanCise was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

VanCise wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Schwartz, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Williamsville North's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Lancaster, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, Williamsville North and Lancaster will both be playing West Seneca West the next time they take the field. The Spartans will host the Warhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Legends will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
