Basketball Recap: Calvary's Loss Ends 14-Game Winning Streak at Home

Calvary entered their contest against Auburn on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The matchup between the Calvary Saints and the Auburn Trojans didn't end well, with the Calvary Saints falling 84-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (62), the Saints still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Calvary still got an impressive performance from Luke Blackford, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. The game was Blackford's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Long, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points.

Even though they lost, Calvary smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Calvary's loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-5. As for Auburn, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary will take on Edinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Auburn, they will challenge South County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Auburn knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully South County likes a good challenge.
