Baseball Recap: Sparta Victorious

Sparta took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Billings, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brendan Brewer made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Austin Humble was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ben Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Sparta's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Billings, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta will take on Clever at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Billings, they will challenge Seymour at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
