Baseball Game Preview: Manatee Hurricanes vs. Bishop Verot Vikings

Manatee is 0-3 against Bishop Verot since March of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Manatee Hurricanes will challenge the Bishop Verot Vikings at 7:00 p.m.

Manatee can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Tuesday. They fell just short of Out-of-Door Academy by a score of 3-1. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Manatee got a good showing from Malachi Cleto, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Manatee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Richardson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bishop Verot earned a 6-2 victory over Northside Christian on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Braylon Sheffield was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brody Baxmann, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Manatee might still be hurting after the 19-3 loss they got from Bishop Verot in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Manatee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
