Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Germantown's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Germantown had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Tupelo on Thursday. Everything went the Germantown Mavericks' way against the Tupelo Golden Wave as the Germantown Mavericks made off with a 14-4 win. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Mackenzie Donnell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maggie Lindley, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Raines Ramage, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Germantown has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Tupelo dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Germantown will challenge Starkville at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Tupelo, they will take on West Union at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tupelo has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
