Volleyball Recap: Sumter's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Sumter unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the West Florence Knights by a score of 2-1. If the Gamecocks were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Knights when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Sumter sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 23-25, 25-13.

Sumter's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for West Florence, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-12.

Looking ahead, Sumter will face off against Blythewood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. West Florence will be paying especially close attention to the Gamecocks' match: after the Gamecocks face off against the Bengals, they'll take on West Florence again at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
