Baseball Game Preview: Kohler Blue Bombers vs. Sevastopol Pioneers

The Kohler Blue Bombers will head out on the road to take on the Sevastopol Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kohler has three straight victories, Sevastopol has 22 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Kohler made easy work of Sheboygan Area Lutheran and carried off an 11-1 win. The Blue Bombers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Jackson Petrie made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Petrie wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Hock, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Hock has posted since back in May of 2024. Another was Nolan Kading, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Sevastopol fell victim to Oconto and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Blue Devils.

Sevastopol's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Kohler, their record is now 12-5.

Kohler came out on top in a nail-biter against Sevastopol when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Bombers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
