Softball Preview: South Side Hornet vs. Izard County Cougars        
        
		
            
 South Side is 0-3 against Izard County since April of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Friday. The South Side Hornet will be staying on the road  to face off against the Izard County Cougars at 4:30  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
 On Thursday,  everything went South Side's way against Dover as South Side made off with  an  11-3 win. That's two games straight that South Side has won by  exactly eight  runs.
  Ana Goodwin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit over four innings pitched. Goodwin has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Goodwin was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-5.
 In other batting news,  Haddi Hulse and  Hallie Holland did most of the damage at the plate:  Hulse  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4, while  Holland  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.  Laciegh Duncan was another key contributor,  going 1-for-3 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Meanwhile, Izard County came tearing into  Monday's  matchup with three straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Timberwolves  a   15-0 shutout. Give Izard County's pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
 South Side has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record  this season. As for Izard County, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with that  victory, which was their fourth straight  at home.
 South Side came up short against Izard County when the teams last played  back in March, falling  5-2. Can South Side avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
