Notre Dame (SO) kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Downey Vikings, falling 42-19.
Despite the loss, Notre Dame (SO) still got an impressive performance from Steele Pizzella, who threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (99 yards to be exact) went to Elliot Cooper.
Oscar Rios was nothing short of spectacular for Downey: he threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Another player making a difference was Little B Blanco, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
Notre Dame (SO) will welcome Bishop Diego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Downey, they will host Orange Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
