Basketball Game Preview: Fort Scott Tigers vs. Chanute Blue Comets

The Fort Scott Tigers will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Chanute Blue Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Fort Scott sitting on three straight victories and Chanute on four.

Fort Scott is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Parsons to the tune of 63-29 on Tuesday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-16.

Dredyn Marlow continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9-for-13 to rack up 23 points and six rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dierks Kegler, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 11 points and six assists.

Fort Scott smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Chanute strolled past Girard with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 60-46.

Fort Scott's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Chanute, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Things could have been worse for Fort Scott, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-35 loss to Chanute in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
