Basketball Game Preview: North Platte Bulldogs vs. Pius X Thunderbolts

North Platte hasn't had much luck against Pius X recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The North Platte Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Pius X Thunderbolts at 5:15 p.m.

North Platte is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They lost 70-46 to Bennington. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Badgers are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Pius X had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They snuck past the SkyHawks with a 48-44 victory.

Pius X pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for North Platte, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

North Platte was taken down by Pius X 58-31 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can North Platte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
