Baseball Recap: Tombstone's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

If Tombstone was feeling good fresh off their 11-0 takedown of St. David last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tombstone Yellow Jackets took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ray Bearcats on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Trey Franklin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hank Moody, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Even though they lost, Tombstone hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive matches.

Tombstone's loss dropped their record down to 6-2-1. As for Ray, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-6.

Tombstone wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-0 win against Willcox on the 14th. As for Ray, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-7 victory against Bisbee on the 14th.
