It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Windsor had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Helena Saints 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Saints back in February, they had to take a 9-3 loss.
Kalyse Lang spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haley Homan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Pearl McKay, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Windsor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for St. Helena, they moved to 20-5 with that defeat, which also ended their 16-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Windsor is taking a road trip to challenge James Logan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. St. Helena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
