Basketball Recap: Maggie Boyd's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sahuaro over Catalina Foothills

Sahuaro lost against Catalina Foothills back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sahuaro Cougars fell 45-34 to the Catalina Foothills Falcons.

Sahuaro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Boyd, who posted nine points and six boards. Dazmyne Gambrell was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Catalina Foothills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clara Mae Hager, who put up 23 points and three steals. Hager's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mercy Martinez, who had six points and ten rebounds.

Sahuaro suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-4. As for Catalina Foothills, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Sahuaro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-49 defeat against Pueblo on the 11th. As for Catalina Foothills, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on December 26th.
