League recap: Menasha stuns Stevens Point in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Stevens Point, who took down 30th ranked Stevens Point, 31-21.

Caleb Alexander of Marshfield ran for the longest rushing play in Valley - South this season against Fond du Lac last week. Alexander scampered for 57 yards on the play and finished with 65 on the day as his team topped the Cardinals.

Jeff Allison was the best receiver in the league this week as Marshfield topped Fond du Lac. Allison tallied 2 receptions for 103 yards.

Keiron Howlett was the best running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 117 yards as Dennis Goettl's team beat the Cardinals.

Lucas Zuiker provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers bested Fond du Lac. He completed 3 passes for 119 yards and also ran for 6 yards.

Nate Neveau put up the best numbers through the air as Oshkosh North bested Lincoln. Neveau's favorite target this week was Turner Geisthardt, who caught 2 passes for 71 yards.

Matt Oestreich made the biggest impact on defense this week as Marshfield topped the Cardinals. The 6-foot-2 senior nabbed 2 interceptions.

5-foot-9 quarterback Neveau of the Spartans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 258. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Allison. The Marshfield star has 4 catches for 150 yards.

An important game coming up in Valley - South this week will be when Oshkosh North takes on Menasha. Tom Zak's team is in first place, while the Bluejays are in fourth place.

Menasha moved up to 49 from 98 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Jeramie Korth's team was able to make move up by besting the Panthers 31-21.
