Edison won the last time they faced Wellington and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Dukes. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Abby Cloud was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Cloud was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Edison let Stella Brown and Peyton Taylor run wild. Brown scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4, while Taylor got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Brown has posted since back in May of 2024. Ivy Kluding was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wellington only posted an OBP of .312.
Edison is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Wellington, they moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Coming up, Edison will venture away from home to challenge Margaretta at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Polar Bears have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Wellington, they will host Keystone at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
