Softball Recap: Central Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Central had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They skirted past the Liberty Charter Lions 6-5. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by just one run.

Yanely Felix tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched.

At the plate, Jayleen Beltran was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Lea Zavala was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one run and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 10-14-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Liberty Charter, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.

Central and Liberty Charter are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Spartans will challenge Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Central's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warhawks have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for Liberty Charter, they will take on Maranatha Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
