Basketball Recap: Midland Takes a Loss

If Midland was feeling good fresh off their 59-38 takedown of Lee Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Midland Mustangs lost 70-45 to the Bradford Eagles on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Midland lost, don't look at Riley Pruitt. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points along with seven boards and five blocks. Pruitt is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Keeley Cox was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, Midland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Midland's record now sits at 2-5. As for Bradford, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midland and Nemo Vista will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradford will take on Augusta in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
