Volleyball Game Preview: Belmont Sentinels vs. Mendez Jaguars

Belmont hasn't had much luck against Mendez recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Belmont Sentinels will look to defend their home court against the Mendez Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Belmont was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hollywood 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sentinels have posted since March 6, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Belmont who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-9, 20-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mendez, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Roybal on Monday. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Mendez was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-11.

Belmont's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Mendez, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
