Basketball Game Preview: Oregon Hawks vs. Newton Eagles

The Oregon Hawks and the Newton Eagles will round out the year against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Oregon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Newton likes a good challenge.

Oregon hadn't beaten Forreston on the road since December 17, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 63-43 victory. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Newton earned a 59-51 win over Robinson on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Maroons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Oregon's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Newton, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-3.

Oregon came up short against Newton in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 50-45. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
