Softball Game Preview: Weiser Wolverines vs. Homedale Trojans

For the second straight game, Weiser will face off against Homedale. The Wolverines will host the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Weiser is coming into the game hot, having won their last 16 games.

Weiser will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Homedale, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 19-5 win on Monday. Considering the Wolverines have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ellie Shirts was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Shirts, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Weiser kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 16 consecutive games.

The loss snapped Homedale's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-11 record. As for Weiser, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.

Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Weiser has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like Homedale struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
