Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Boardman

While Boardman didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Howland Tigers on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won four games in a row.

Collin Resetar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Boardman saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Eicher, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was Eicher's first of the season. Tyler Kirlik was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Boardman's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Howland, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record.

Boardman will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
