Recap: West Las Vegas Dons vs. Shiprock Chieftains

The West Las Vegas Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Shiprock by a score of 77-75. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

West Las Vegas' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was P.j. Montano, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Devaughn Kensey, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, West Las Vegas were working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

West Las Vegas' loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Shiprock, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Las Vegas will take on Sandia Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shiprock, Shiprock and Aztec will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Aztec is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
