Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Charter lost against Leadership Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals took a 38-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leadership Academy Falcons. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Charter still got an impressive performance from Kaylen Williamson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grayson Smith, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brianna Ross led the charge by putting up six points and eight rebounds. Brenna Lauten was another key player, scoring six points in addition to 12 boards and four steals.

Cornerstone Charter's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Leadership Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.

Cornerstone Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-7 defeat against Bishop McGuinness on the 24th. As for Leadership Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-35 loss against Piedmont Classical on the 24th.
