Volleyball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Liberty Patriots

The Basic Wolves will square off against the Liberty Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Liberty will be up against a hot Basic team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Wolves blew past Eldorado 3-0 on Tuesday.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Basic was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-12, 25-13.

Basic can attribute much of their success to Blake Bevell, who had five digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Bevell a new career-high.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Liberty had no problem doing just that on Monday. They put the hurt on the Trailblazers with a sharp 3-0 win.

While Liberty won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-19, 25-23.

Basic's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-10. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 21-12.

Basic skirted past Liberty 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
