Basketball Game Preview: Greenbrier Bobcats vs. Portland Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bobcats take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenbrier has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Portland will come in with four straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Greenbrier came up short against Station Camp and fell 55-44. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Bison are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, Portland posted their closest win since January 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against White House, sneaking past 50-48.

Greenbrier better keep an eye on Keilen Dalton. He was instrumental in Portland's win, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Dalton is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Tristan Calvert was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Greenbrier's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Portland, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.

Greenbrier didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Portland in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 63-58 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenbrier since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
