Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Harper Lewis and Cameron Young Lead Cardozo to Victory

On Sunday, the Cardozo Clerks were able to grind out a solid win over the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons, taking the game 68-59. Given the Clerks' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in District of Columbia, while the Falcons are ranked 45th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Cardozo to victory were Cameron Young and Harper Lewis. Young went 10 of 18 on his way to 23 points along with six assists and five boards, while Lewis dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Young is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 22 games he's played dating back to last season. Jonathan Gray III was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Cardozo's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Cardozo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-35 win against Ron Brown on the 13th. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, they will venture away from home to take on Paul VI at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Paul VI's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.
