It was a good run, but Newburgh Free Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Middletown Middie Bears by a score of 3-2. The Goldbacks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Middie Bears earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Newburgh Free Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Cross, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Newburgh Free Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Middletown, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

While Newburgh Free Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
