Basketball Game Preview: St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings vs. Maryvale Prep

The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings will head out to challenge Maryvale Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

St. John's Catholic Prep will head into Thursday's contest eager for some revenge after what happened against Bryn Mawr: St. John's Catholic Prep blew Bryn Mawr out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Bryn Mawr got their revenge. St. John's Catholic Prep fell just short of Bryn Mawr by a score of 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered since January 8, 2024.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Olivia Bolduc, who posted 21 points along with five assists and four steals. The game was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Shively, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Maryvale Prep came up short against John Carroll on Friday and fell 44-32. Maryvale Prep has struggled against John Carroll recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

St. John's Catholic Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Maryvale Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

St. John's Catholic Prep came up short against Maryvale Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 47-36. Can St. John's Catholic Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
