Basketball Preview: Berry Cardinal vs. Ardrey Kell Knights
Berry is 0-10 against the Knights since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Berry Cardinal will be playing at home against the Ardrey Kell Knights at 6:00 p.m. Berry is out to stop a ten-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Berry struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Sabres had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Berry had to suffer through a rough 61-30 loss at the hands of the Sabres. Berry has struggled against the Sabres recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Berry had strong showings from Brynlee Miller, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Zahnia Long, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 43.3% of Berry's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Ardrey Kell came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Olympic 64-34 at home. With Ardrey Kell ahead 33-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Berry's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Ardrey Kell, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
Berry took a serious blow against the Knights in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 68-9. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ardrey Kell's Molly Burns, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals.
