Basketball Recap: Victoria Knights vs. Macksville Mustangs
The Victoria Knights lost against the Macksville Mustangs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Victoria took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Victoria has not had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Schwien, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds. Schwien is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Quincy Pickering, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Macksville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Clawson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Hector Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Victoria's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9. As for Macksville, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Victoria will face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Macksville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Coyotes at 8:00 p.m.
