Basketball Recap: Apple Springs Takes a Loss

Apple Springs lost against Centerville back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Apple Springs Eagles had to suffer through a 89-52 loss at the hands of the Centerville Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Bulldogs since January 4, 2021.

Despite the loss, Apple Springs still got an impressive performance from Zeth Dugat, who posted 13 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Noah Thompson, who had six points and five boards.

Dugat wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Apple Springs was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Leading Centerville to victory were Jake Slaten and Kolt Larsen. Slaten dropped a double-double on 35 points and 21 rebounds, while Larsen dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten boards, and 13 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Slaten has scored at least a third of Centerville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hardy Brown, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 15 points and six assists.

Apple Springs has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Centerville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-4.

Apple Springs will be playing at home against Laneville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Laneville has insisted on making their lastten contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-10 during that stretch of close contests. Centerville has already played their next contest, a 69-53 loss against Kennard on the 3rd.
